Ranchi Police Crack Jewellery Heist Near Hundru Falls, Four Arrested
Ranchi: Ranchi Police have solved a jewellery theft case at Soni Jewellers, located on the main road leading to Hundru Falls in the Sikidir police station area, arresting four accused in connection with the incident. A fifth suspect remains at large and is being actively hunted.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Arman Ansari, a resident of Chandwa Pithoriya; and Farhan Ansari, Ejaz Shah, and Hasnain Ansari, all residents of Irba. Police have recovered stolen silver jewellery, the Alto car and motorcycle used in the crime, a gas cutter machine, a gas cylinder, and mobile phones from their possession.
According to police, the case came to light on May 27 when Shashikant Prasad, a resident of Dhelwakhuta, filed a complaint at Sikidir police station stating that the lock of his jewellery shop had been cut and silver ornaments stolen. Given the seriousness of the matter, a special investigation team was constituted on the orders of the Senior Superintendent of Police.
Interrogation revealed a carefully planned operation. Before executing the theft, the accused had conducted a recce of the shop and its surrounding area. On the night of May 26, all the accused arrived in Sikidir by car and motorcycle and divided responsibilities among themselves. While one accused kept watch on police movements in the area, others were assigned to surveil the shop and cut through its lock. Police traced the gang using technical surveillance, CCTV footage, and mobile location data.
During questioning, the accused confessed that after the theft, the stolen silver jewellery was divided among themselves. A portion of the goods was sold, and the proceeds were spent on personal expenses and preparations for Bakrid.
Acting on the accused’s disclosures, police have recovered several more stolen silver ornaments. Raids are continuing to apprehend the remaining absconding accused.
