Ranchi Administration Launches Crackdown on Loitering, Substance Abuse at Public Spaces
Ranchi: The district administration of Ranchi has been running a sustained campaign to curb loitering, unnecessary gatherings, and substance abuse at public places across the city. In the latest phase of this drive, a special inspection operation was carried out on Monday night across several areas of Ranchi under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar) Kumar Rajat.

During the operation, teams conducted intensive checks along the stretch from Kachehri Chowk to Bada Talab, and from Harmu Chowk to Gadikhana Chowk, covering the surrounding localities as well. Administrative personnel questioned individuals found loitering without purpose at roadsides, public spaces, and major intersections, and examined the nature of their activities.
At several locations, groups of young men were found gathered unnecessarily. The inspection team advised them to refrain from loitering at public places, stay away from intoxicants, and cooperate in maintaining law and order. They were also warned that anyone found involved in activities disrupting public order in the future would face strict legal action as per the rules.
Speaking on the occasion, SDO Kumar Rajat said that unnecessary crowding, substance abuse, and antisocial activities at public places pose a challenge to law and order, and also affect the safety and convenience of ordinary citizens. The district administration made clear that the campaign against loitering, substance abuse, and other undesirable activities will continue uninterrupted in order to maintain a safe, peaceful, and disciplined environment across Ranchi.
The administration has appealed to the city’s youth to channel their energy into positive and constructive pursuits, and to play an active role in making Ranchi a clean, safe, and well-ordered city.
