Passenger Special Train Proposed on Hatia-Bano Rail Route; Trial Run Likely Soon

Ranchi: Commuters travelling between Hatia and Bano may soon get a significant boost to their daily transit options. The Ranchi Rail Division has submitted a proposal to the South Eastern Railway headquarters to operate a Passenger Special Train on the Hatia-Bano rail section, offering long-awaited relief to thousands of passengers who have been demanding a local train service on this route.

Officials confirmed that once the proposal receives approval, the train will be launched on a trial basis to assess its viability.

Proposed Schedule and Fare

According to the proposed timetable, the train will depart from Hatia at 8:00 AM daily and arrive at Bano by 10:00 AM. On the return journey, it will leave Bano at 5:00 PM and reach Hatia by 7:00 PM.

The proposed fare for the approximately 95-kilometre route has been set at around ₹65, making it an affordable option for everyday commuters.

Railway officials believe the service will directly benefit thousands of passengers from rural areas, including students, working professionals, and traders who currently rely on road transport for this stretch.

“This train will open up convenient and economical travel for a large cross-section of the population along this corridor,” a railway official said.

During the trial run, railway authorities will monitor passenger footfall and evaluate operational logistics. If ridership numbers prove encouraging, the service could be regularised and made a permanent part of the rail network.

The proposal marks a positive step toward improving regional rail connectivity in Jharkhand, and commuters along the route are hopeful that formal approval will come through swiftly.
