Michigan Party Store Owners’ Daily Lottery Habit Pays Off With $100,000 Win At Their Own Store

For Patricia Lange and her husband Gary, buying a Club Keno ticket every day wasn’t just a habit, it was a routine baked into running their business. That daily ritual recently turned into a six-figure windfall.

Lange, 77, told Michigan Lottery officials that she and her husband, owners of Pat & Gary’s Party Store on Straits Highway, make it a point to purchase a Club Keno ticket once a day while working at the shop. It’s a small tradition that finally delivered a massive payoff.

“We are the owners of the party store, so every day we buy a Club Keno ticket while we’re there,” Lange said.

It was Gary who bought the winning ticket and happened to be watching the drawing unfold when he realized something big had happened.

“My husband bought this ticket and saw we’d won big while he was watching the drawings,” Lange said. “He came home and woke me up, so I knew it must be important because he never wakes me up. When he told me we’d just won $100,000 on Club Keno, I couldn’t believe it! We were thrilled.”

The winning ticket matched 9 of the 20 numbers drawn in Club Keno draw 2606168 on May 25. That match alone was worth $50,000, but because the couple had also opted for the Kicker add-on, their prize doubled to a full $100,000.

Lange said the windfall couldn’t have come at a better time. The couple plans to use the winnings to pay down bills and restock their store ahead of the busy summer tourist season, when Indian River sees an influx of visitors passing through the Straits Highway corridor.

For two small business owners, a simple daily habit turned into a reward that will help keep their store running strong for months to come.
