Three Drug Traffickers Arrested in Ranchi, Brown Sugar Worth Over 16 Grams Seized

Ranchi: In a significant crackdown on the drug trade, police in Ranchi’s Sukhdevnagar police station area arrested three drug traffickers, including a woman and seized a total of 16.43 grams of brown sugar, along with three smartphones, Rs 7,320 in cash, and a notebook containing transaction records.

The arrested accused have been identified as Aniket Aggarwal, a resident of Maa Cement Gali in Vidyanagar, and Kusum Choubey along with her son Ankush Choubey, residents of Road No. 6. The operation was carried out by special teams formed under the leadership of DSP Neeraj Kumar.

On Sunday afternoon, police received a tip-off about illegal drug dealings taking place in the Vidyanagar area near Karam Chowk. Acting on the intelligence and on the directions of the City SP, a police team conducted a raid at the spot. Upon spotting the police, Aniket Aggarwal attempted to flee but was chased down and apprehended. A search of his person yielded 2.05 grams of brown sugar packed in 20 small pouches.

During interrogation, Aggarwal disclosed information about Kusum Choubey and her son Ankush Choubey. Police subsequently raided their residence on Road No. 6. The search recovered 4.94 grams of brown sugar (in 49 pouches) from Kusum Choubey and 4.65 grams (in 45 pouches) from Ankush Choubey. Additionally, a hand purse kept inside a cupboard in the house yielded another 4.79 grams of brown sugar packed in 45 pouches, which was also seized.

All three accused reportedly confessed during interrogation to their involvement in the drug trade. Further legal proceedings in the case are currently underway.

The raiding party included Sukhdevnagar Station House Officer Sunil Kumar Kushwaha, Argoda Station House Officer Anil Kumar Tiwari, police personnel from both stations, and armed force personnel.
