Florida Woman Arrested After Bathroom Brawl
Gainesville, FL – An 18-year-old University of Florida freshman from Sarasota was arrested early Saturday morning after a fight inside a crowded college bar bathroom escalated into a physical brawl that spilled onto the tile floor, according to Gainesville Police.Sierra Lindberg was taken into custody at 12:39 a.m. outside a bar in the University Plaza shopping center, just blocks from the UF campus.
Police say the altercation began shortly after midnight Friday when Lindberg allegedly confronted two other women inside the women’s restroom.Witnesses told officers the dispute quickly turned physical, with Lindberg pulling the victims’ hair and taking the fight to the ground. A bar employee who attempted to separate the women was also struck during the chaos, the arrest report states.
None of the three individuals involved requested medical treatment at the scene.Lindberg was escorted out of the venue by staff and arrested minutes later on two counts of simple battery, a first-degree misdemeanor. She was booked into the Alachua County Jail and released later Saturday morning after posting bond.
The specific bar where the incident occurred has not been officially identified by police, but the University Plaza complex is home to several popular late-night spots frequented by students, including Grove GNV and Rowdy Rudy’s.Gainesville Police say the investigation remains active and have not released a possible motive for the fight.
University of Florida officials declined to comment on whether Lindberg faces separate student-conduct sanctions.Lindberg is scheduled to be arraigned later this month. Each battery charge carries a maximum penalty of 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.
