The FDA assigned its most serious risk classification, Class I on Aug. 18 to four GreenWise-branded organic frozen berry products sold exclusively at Publix, citing an active E. coli outbreak.
On July 3, 2026, Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. of San Carlos, Chile, first recalled a single lot of frozen GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries (10 oz., lot code 60401) after reports of illness. Publix then expanded the recall on July 29 to cover all lots of GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries, after public health officials traced illnesses to the frozen organic blueberries.
Recalled Products
GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries (10 oz. and 48 oz.) and GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries (10 oz. and 48 oz.), all with expiration dates before Feb. 9, 2028.
Products were shipped to Publix stores across 8 states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Illness onset dates ran from May 11 through June 5, meaning people were getting sick for nearly a month before any public recall was announced. Publix conducted an internal stop-sale at the end of June, before the public recall.
What Consumers Should Do
Publix is advising consumers to discard any GreenWise frozen blueberries purchased on or before July 3, 2026, or return them for a refund.
